The Department of Conservation (DOC) conserve and manage New Zealand's natural and historic heritage. 

In the Opotiki and surrounding areas DOC manage a number of walking and tramping, mountain biking, camping facilities and huts. Visit the DOC website to find out the status of tracks before heading off on your next adventure. Track conditions change regularly depending on weather and maintenance events.

Motu Trails - The Motu Trails are located between Opotiki and Gisborne and are part of Nga Haerenga, the New Zealand Cycle Trail. There are several trails to choose from varying in difficulty and duration. Click here for more information.
