White Island lies 49km offshore from Ohope Beach and is one of the world’s most accessible volcanos. It is an active volcano and most of it lies underneath the water, but the top 321m sticks out above the ocean, forming a circular island that’s approximately 2km wide. White Island AKA Whakaari is one of New Zealands top tourist destinaions. Travel and land by boat or helicopter or take a flight over the island to view this remarkable place on earth.
