The Opotiki Museum on the main street of Opotiki is a three story building displaying the history of Opotiki and surrounding areas. Here you can view the history of Opotiki and surrounding areas over the three levels of the Museum. View the extensive collection of implements and vehicles, early pioneer photographs and an exhibition focused on the importance of shipping in early Opotiki. Experience the 100 year old shelves and original fittings from Opotiki's Shalfoon and Francis grocery and hardware store, opened in the late 1800s.

The Opotiki Museum is a great family activity in the Opotiki region bringing a glimpse of our past to life. There is also research material available at the Museum including: archives, photographs, family research, newspapers, phone books, electoral rolls, official publications and more.
